After getting relegated from Bundesliga in 2021/22, Greuther Furth weren't even close to returning to the German top-flight division as they finished 12th and eighth, nowhere close to securing at least Promotion Playoff. This year, the popular "Cloverleaves" started the season well, winning five points in three 2. Bundesliga games and advancing to the DFB Pokal 1/16 Finals after beating Schott Mainz.
