Aleksejevs v Abdulaev. IBO European title fight preview
After what looked like a heartbreaking night for both Premier League sides, it looks like the Premier League will NOT receive an additional Champions League spot on their league table.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid saw out both English sides in the quarter-finals, Arsenal and Manchester City respectively.
This means the likes of Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow to their efforts to try and achieve Champions League football for next season.
With Liverpool 3-0 down on aggregate to Atalanta, West Ham likely to lose out to Bayer Leverkusen, and Aston Villa being the only club to potentially turn things around for the Premier League.
Italy are now on top for the additional UEFA Champions League spot thanks to Atalanta, AC Milan, and Roma having progressed within the Europa League. However, an all-Italian quarter final between Roma and AC Milan will guarantee loss and a slight dash to Italy’s hopes of achieving this.

Echoing that one UCL of 2013, FC Bayern and Dortmund have both progressed into opposite sides of semi finals. Both top clubs, combined with that of now-champions Bayer Leverkusen set to dump West Ham out of the Europa, mean glory for Germany - sitting pretty at just a few points behind Italy.

After title hopefuls Arsenal and Manchester City saw exits to Bayern and Real Madrid, it seems like the hope of England lies on Liverpool to turn things around, West Ham to provide a shock, and Aston Villa to continue good form. As much as it is unlikely, anything can happen.

Real Madrid are the last Spanish side in Europe, after FC Barcelona crashed out to rampant PSG, and Atletico Madrid saw a shock turnaround at the hands of Borussia Dortmund. Spain are unfortunately out of contention with Real Madrid as their sole representative.
